Photo Tour Itinerary
Please note: Our Faroe Islands photography Tour itinerary is flexible and may change at the discretion of our Photo Guides due to weather, road conditions, transportation delays, or other factors beyond our control. We constantly monitor weather forecasts and local conditions to plan each day for the best possible shooting opportunities.
Our goal is always to put you in the right place at the right time for incredible photography in the Faroes, but we cannot guarantee that all planned locations will be accessible during the Photo Tour.
Following is an example of what our Photo Tour itinerary might look like.
Day 1 - Arrival & Welcome
You’ll arrive at Vágar Airport, where we’ll pick you up and transfer you to our hotel. After check-in, you’ll have some time to relax before we gather for a brief group meet-and-greet. We’ll then head out together for our first sunset photography session close to Torshavn.
Day 2 - Vágar Island I
We begin with the hike to Trælanípan, where Lake Sørvágsvatn appears to hover above the ocean. After enjoying the views, we break for lunch before continuing to photograph the dramatic Witch’s Finger (Trøllkonufingur) and the towering Dunninesdrangar sea stacks.
In the afternoon, we visit the scenic village of Bøur, followed by Gásadalur and the iconic Múlafossur Waterfall, a perfect sunset spot.
Keep an eye out for Highland cows along the way.
Day 3 - Kalsoy, Viðareiði & Klakkur
We start the day with a ferry ride to the mystical island of Kalsoy, known for its rugged cliffs and iconic lighthouse. A scenic hike leads us to Kallur Lighthouse, where we'll photograph dramatic seascapes and steep mountain ridges. Perfect for wide-angle landscapes and minimalist shots.
In the afternoon, we visit Viðareiði to capture its charming church framed by sweeping fjord views. Later, we head to Klakkur, a stunning peak near Klaksvík, to catch the golden hour and sunset. The panoramic vistas over fjords and surrounding islands provide endless opportunities for capturing light, depth, and Faroese atmosphere.
Day 4 - Puffin Paradise in Mykines
Today we venture to the remote island of Mykines, a true paradise for bird lovers and photographers alike. After a scenic boat ride, we hike along dramatic cliffs and green ridgelines to get up close with the Puffins.
This is the Faroe Islands’ most famous puffin colony. Expect intimate encounters with these charismatic birds as they nest and dive along the cliffs. The landscape offers endless photo opportunities: seabirds in flight, windswept cliffs and wide ocean vistas.
It’s a day of wildlife, raw nature, and coastal drama, perfect for long lenses.
Day 5 - Streymoy & Esteroy
We start early on Eysturoy, catching the soft morning light at Hvithamar, where panoramic views over Funningsfjørður and beyond offer breathtaking compositions. From there, we descend to the colorful village of Funningur, and then on to the coastal beauty of Gjógv, with its natural harbor and sea-carved cliffs.
As we drive through Funningsfjørður, we’ll pause to photograph the iconic winding road, a favorite for capturing scale, curves, and moody fjord light.
In the afternoon, we head to Streymoy, visiting the peaceful, turf-roofed village of Saksun, then on to the powerful two-tiered Fossá waterfall, and finally the black-sand beach at Tjørnuvík, where the towering sea stacks Risin & Kellingin await under the shifting evening skies.
A full day of layered textures, changing light, and unforgettable landscapes.
Day 6 - Vágar Island II
Today we set out by boat for one of the most iconic locations in the Faroe Islands Drangarnir. We'll go ashore and spend around an hour capturing this dramatic sea stack from the land, with ample time for creative compositions and unique angles.
Afterward, we return to the boat and cruise toward the breathtaking islet of Tindhólmur for an exclusive landscape shoot. Expect epic scenery, shifting light, and a truly one-of-a-kind photo opportunity in this remote and wild location.
Day 7 - Torshavn
After checking out of the hotel, we’ll spend the morning exploring and photographing the charming old town of Tórshavn. With its colorful houses, cobblestone streets, and cozy harborside vibes, it’s the perfect final stop to capture the spirit of the Faroe Islands.
Afterward, we head to the airport for departure.
